virna teixeira

Virna Teixeira was born in Fortaleza, Brazil, in 1971. She has three poetry books published in Brazil: Visita (2000), Distancia (2005) and Trânsitos (2009), and a number of pamphlets. Her last collection, ‘Neverland is Too Far Away’ appeared for the first time in Lisbon in 2014, and then in a bilingual version this year in London. Virna is a poetry translator (from English, French and Spanish to Portuguese) who published three collections of Scottish poetry in Brazil, and now runs a small press in the UK, Carnaval Press, publishing Brazilian poetry in translation. She specialized as a neurologist in Brazil, and has been working as a doctor in psychiatric hospitals in London.
